A not to be missed attraction in Singapore, the Songs of the Sea experience is sure to capture your heart with its entertaining and attention grabbing show screened every night at Sentosa Island. Whether you are young or old, come and experience this exciting nightly multi sensory extravaganza when visiting Singapore. Uniquely, these beautiful visual exhibits are displayed on screens created by water shoots that stream out of the 69 water jets found here.

The Songs of the Sea show makes the area of Siloso Beach come alive daily with a beautiful blend of vibrant colors. Apart from the colorful visual displays, the show is a popular hit among people due to its entertaining music, unique computer images, and outbursts of flames, lasers, water jets and pyrotechnics. There is also a friendly and well trained live cast involved in the show.

Logistically, the pyrotechnics of the Songs of the Sea are amazing. The water screen displayed is approximately 40 meters high, whilst flame bursts leap up to about 20 meters. One of the main highlights of the Songs of the Sea is a 120 meter long kelong structure which is a Malay fishing village. The kelong is complete with fishing huts made out of inflammable material. This amazing night starts off with a young man named Li singing a beautiful song as he overlooks the sea. He suddenly sees a vision of a princess sleeping in front of him who is bound by an enchantment. The story continues as Li, along with his friends, try to break this enchantment through a series of captivating events.

The Songs of the Sea show, started on 26 March 2007, replaced the 25-year-old Musical Fountain show. This showcase is a key $30 million investment by Sentosa to enhance its entertainment product offerings and to attract more tourists. It is the world’s only permanent show set in the sea – boasting spectacular pyrotechnics displays, a live cast and an open-air viewing gallery which can comfortably accommodate 2,500 visitors. The show runs twice a night at 7.40pm and 8.40pm and lasts 25 minutes. An entry fee of S$10.00 per person.

Singapore Night Safari house about 1,000 animals belonging to 120 species, all nocturnal creatures, and they are quite active when the guests are in the house. The Night Safari is 40 hectares, around 100 acres, twice as large as the Singapore Zoo. The night Safari is an open-air zoo set in a humid-tropical forest setting that’s divided into eight geographical zones. Night Safari on foot via three well-marked walking trails, or by tram. Singapore Night Safari is the most popular and most visited tourist attraction in Singapore. Welcoming almost one million visitors a year.

Singapore Night Safari opens at 6:00 pm closes on midnight. When planning to visit Singapore Night Safari, visit(www.nightsafari.com.sg) first to give you an idea of what you’ll be seeing. Through the website, you will learn current promotions, specialty shows and culinary events in one of the restaurants that maybe happening at the time of your visit.

The Journey
Start your journey about one hour before the sun goes down and save a few dollars on the way there by taking the MRT(Singapore’s Rapid Transit train) to the Ang Mo Kio Station (train ride is around 30 minutes from say, Orchard Road). At this Hawker’s Centre, you’ll find one of Singapore’s best dishes, Laksa (a curry based noodle dish, usually garnished with prawns), Hainan Chicken White Carrot Cake, and other local and wash it down with a Tiger Beer or any other local beverage. Remember to buy a couple of bottles of water to bring with you. You’ll find food and beverage stands at the park, once you’ve dined and are satisfied, you can make your way back to the Ang Mo Kio Station and look for bus number 138 which will take you to the SNS.

When you buy your admission tickets, you’ll pay S$20.00 to enter the park and S$8.00 for the tram ride which takes 45 minutes However, for S$40.00 (Adults), S$20.00 (children). You can buy a multi-park ticket (Park Hoppers Special), which includes the Zoo, the Bird Park, and the Night Safari. This is valid for 30 days, and excludes the Tram Ride.

About the Night Safari:

The park design is truly brilliant, from the especial lamps used that provide enough lighting to permit viewing the wildlife and not interfere with the animals behavior, to providing enough lighting that allows you to move about in a safe manner. The enclosures are designed to closely emulate the animal’s native habitat, and rather than being caged, like most world zoos, the exhibits are open-air, similar to the award-winning concept of the Singapore Zoo. Animals and visitors are separated by natural hidden barriers, such as moats and shrubbery. Only the large agile cats are behind glass enclosures.

Flash photography is absolutely forbidden – Cameras’ with flashes excites the animals causing them to get wild.

White water rafting becomes popular in the Philippines, especially in Cagayan de Oro as one of the tourist attractions. This kind of adventure is an answer for any type of traveler that usually craves for something out of ordinary adventure. I went to Cagayan de Oro to try white water rafting experience. And the experience being in the midst of splashing and rushing water is far different than watching a river go by.

The weather was beautifully sunny at that time as the sun comes out with the rushing sound of the rapids for this breath-taking yet exciting venture. For beginners’ course, there are 14 rapids and paddling through long – scretch of Cagayan for three hours. This trip seems longer but certainly exciting made every minute a memorable one.

We were briefed on how to paddle correctly as well as how to follow instructions from our raft guide. During the briefing, everyone is seemed ready to begin the splashing adventure as the pure excitement can be seen in every neophyte traveler’ eye.

It was exciting as people do fall out of rafts, frequently, but as the huge waves hit us hard I am considering falling out of the raft a more adventure and fun. In fact, some of the rapids have names, each relating to a hilarious incident that happened to a celebrity.

Since it was raining the past days the water was brown, so instead of white water rafting I rather called it a brown water rafting.

Genting Highland offers a lot of attractions such as World Class Casino(the only legal Casino in Malaysia) , three to five star hotels, different kinds of restaurant, shopping malls and their outdoor and indoor park. They also have a lot of world class amenities inside their theme park and one of this is CorkScrew RollerCoaster.

For 36RM(if i’m not mistaken), you can enjoy almost all of the ride in their outdoor theme park. The one the catch my attention is the CorkScrew RollerCoaster coz it looks really cool. I never tried this in Philippines, so better tried it here. We waited in a queue for couple of minutes. I am kinda afraid but I am still eager to try it. While riding I took a video using my Lumix LX3 camera. Actually I am not sure if its allowed but I still took a video to catch this once in a lifetime adventure. Check out the video of CorkScrew RollerCoaster below. Enjoy.

At exactly 10:00 AM we arrived at Kuala Lumpur International airport from Singapore. Right away, we fixed our immigration requirements and prepared ourselves. After a few minutes our tourist guide Jeff arrived, we had a little conversation.

We travel an hour from KL airport to Kuala Lumpur City. Jeff told us to dropped by at Batu Cave a Hindu sacred place. The place was really nice you can see a huge gold-colored statue of one of their gods. Their are hundreds of dove flying and walking anywhere.

When you look up, you can see the cave with more or less 300 steps. Although we are tired, we still climbed upstairs to see what is inside. Going up, you can see a lot of tourist taking a pictures. I saw a monkey roaming around the stairs, I just recall our tourist guide told us not to bring food around because there are many long-tailed monkey around- they might get the food from us.

In front of the cave, you can see a lot of Hindu gods and goddess. There is also a man holding a snake, you can take a picture with snake for just a few bucks.

Inside the cave, we saw a lot of Hindu people praying in the temple. You can see few stalactite inside but it was deformed already, not as good as seen on the other untouched cave. We took a lot of pictures inside and proceed to our next destination the Genting Highlands.

When I was invited to Gumasa Saranggani, being the geographically challenged that I am, I could not help but wonder which part it was in the big chunk of land that is Mindanao. Yet, with my persistent adventurous soul and a camera at hand (some cash and clothes, of course), I raved the mountains that separate Davao City and Saranggani.

Gumasa Whitesand background

Before the trip, I researched something about the place, just trying to make sure if I won’t be made into a human sacrifice just like how strangers in horror films usually end up when they go to an unfamiliar place. And lo and behold, the articles need not tell me that it is the little Boracay in Mindanao, for the Gumasa pictures alone showed me that it is. Yet, aware of the tricks of the trade and latest advances in the technology of photography, my skepticism still got the better out me.

Tired from the trip, I promised that the moment I arrived at the White Haven resort, I would rest the whole afternoon. After all, the place could not be that kind of a marvel for it to rejuvenate me from a stressful four-hour-or-so trip. Of course, I did not. In fact, I was so enthralled by the place and even thought that the pictures I saw in the net were of no comparison with what the beach in Gumasa Saranggani could offer.
Get a hold of this:

white, porous sand – check! It was even made whiter by the sun. My eyes were literally squinting every time I look at the beach.
Blue, clear water – check! If you go skinny dipping in the water, somebody who is 2 meters away from you would see your privates.
Boracay look but not with the wild Boracay atmosphere – check! The place is like a haven for people who intend to make a recluse out of themselves from humanity.

And to top it all: affordable – you bet it is! Choose from the line of resorts in the place and you will get the best bargain you got for a perfect paradise getaway (yet some commodities are quite expensive such as food because the place it quite far from the poblacion – the same with those horrifying beaches we have elsewhere and they do not even compare to the Gumasa resorts). Near White Haven, the place where we stayed, Coco Beach Resort and Rosal Beach Resort also offer almost the same kind of accommodation.

Over all, the place is not just all face value. Amidst the paradise it offers, the aura that you get from the place is all tranquility and peace. When I got to the place, I saw that there is more to life than the busy and competitive world of men.

Are you interested to try diving? Or, are you in search of a nice place to dive? Try diving in Apo Island.

When I decided to go on a trip going to Manila and then Dumaguete, a lot of people told me to dive in Apo Island. It’s just 30 kilometers south of the Capitol of Dumaguete and boasts of its 3 kilometers in diameter size. The highest point in the island is approximately 120 meters high and it has a 250 meters long white sand shore.

Curious as to why such a small place could be so renowned to a lot of people an interested to try diving for the first time, I decided to go on a side-trip adventure going to Apo Island.

I was recommended to go to Paul’s Dive Shop. Since I am a newbie in diving, I was to choose between Discover Scuba Diving and Ad venture Dive package (both of which would last for 3 hours and are both for $65). I chose the former since I also wanted to learn a thing or two about diving. They also have other advanced packages but I did not bother myself with them.

Before the dive, I was very anxious. Yet the crew in Paul’s dive shop helped me with all the preparations, from the basics of diving and the what and what not to do. But once I knew the basic stuffs on how to submerge without dying using the diving equipment, and when I saw the ocean floor and all of the wonderful and rich ocean vegetation, corals and different kinds of fishes, I was overcome with awe and amazement. There, I knew, the side-trip and all the expenses were all worth it.

Indeed, going to Dumaguete has become more special with my trip in Apo Island pictures of my travels in the place, both in the city and in Apo Island) would always bring back wonderful memories that could bring some smiles even in the gloomiest of days.

The Casaroro Falls in Valencia lies 20-30 minutes away from Dumaguete city. Going there is a 230-pesos-ride worth of fun, adventure and unforgettable nature trip. The rip going there is in itself an adventure. One has to ride a habal-habal, a motorcycle turned public transport, while enjoying the luxurious scenery and once-in-a-while trek in places the habal-habal had some problems getting through.

The exact location of this falls in Negros can’t be reached by the motorcycle itself. Visitors have to trek some 338 steps just to get to the place. But once you reach Casaroro Falls, all of the tiring traveling would be forgotten. For people who are tired with the hustle and bustle of their city lives, they will surely find zen and serenity not just in the falls itself but also in the trip going to the falls.

Unlike other falls which has wide cascades, this falls has a narrow opening where the water falls. This makes the water drops heavily and this causes a wide and gargantuan roar to echo all over the place. The roaring sound that the water makes as it plunges sounds like nature’s therapy in action, curing the traveler’s weary hearts.

These characteristics make the falls both wonderful and unique. Needless to say, the Philippines is truly blessed with almost all of nature’s wonders, and one of these is the Casaroro Falls.
