Tax for every SMS? That's crazy!

The nation is in uproar again after reports came out that SMS messages are planned to be taxed. With over 70 million mobile phone users in the Philippines, they are seen by the government as a way to carry the burden of the cash-strapped country.

Wow! What will they think of next? It’s not like the people are the ones stealing money. The people are paying taxes already and now they have to pay more? What’s worse is the thought of having corrupt government officials having another cookie jar to put their hands in.

Although the government said that the money will be used for boosting the country’s education budget, we know better than to buy their story. This is another sad situation and I really hope that they won’t push through with it. Maybe they can find a way to have us paying taxes for air too?
