Philippines: September 7, 2009 Declared non-Working Holiday

Malacañang declared September 7, 2009 as non-Working Holiday for national mourning for the late Iglesia ni Cristo Executive Minister Eraño “Ka Erdy” Manalo.  Ka Erdy 84 years old, died last week and will have a funeral ceremony on Monday at exactly 12:00 at  the Tabernacle located near the Central Temple along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. This is a moved from Malacañang to give respect for the INC leader with a millions of followers here in Philippines.

Unfortunately when I ask admin in our office if there would be a work, they said we have to report to the office. They already emailed  DOLE about the said holiday but they haven’t replied. I am still hoping that there will be no work and of course with pay.. LOL.

yeah I’m quite confuse is this holiday will be the regular holiday soon as in celebrated every year? or just the special holiday coz it was said in the news as I quote on my blog about the Sept 7 and 21 Holiday

Don’t be confused Ice.. this holiday is politically motivated. Iglesia ni Cristo have millions of voters, so to get sympathy from them they made this decision.

I agree with what “ADMIN” might be trying to say. In all honesty, there are too many holidays here in the Philippines and it only gives government workers an extra day off, with pay, while the middle class, and the lower, have to suffer no pay for that day if the job they work for is not considerate about the loss of income their workers will loose.

GMA Declared Sept 7 is non working holiday , but my boss said the DTI declares that BPO and Electronics Industry is not holiday, So what is the treatment on our payment on that day since Electronics Industry is not a holiday?

  6. Electronics says:

It quite unfair for the people who work in the fields of electronics, for the declaration of Mr. Remonde that BPO and Electronics are not included for the special non-working holiday dated Sept. 7 and 21. People in this firm working on that day cannot received any additional amount, while those people who work in different firm have additional pay for working on the said day. Please be fair

I am sicked with this government… All the decision they made is politically motivated. Holiday industry exception?? OMG..

BTW I thought Eid’l Fitr is legal non-holiday so why these industries are not included..

Is there a copy of Proclamation No./Order that specifically states that Electronics and BPO Companies are exempted, to make if official? This will server as legal basis of HR team for not adding additional premium for those who were required to report for work.
